Holidays and days off need telling to the calendar and the booking page, or patients will book into a closed clinic. A closure does that for one location or all of them; unlike most settings, a closure belongs to a site.
Closures and opening hours
A closure is a day, or a run of days, when the clinic isn't open at all, whoever is rostered: Christmas, a holiday, a staff training day. It saves adding an unavailable block to every practitioner. Open Settings, then Holidays & Closures.
The page starts with Weekly opening hours for each location, read from the location's opening hours in Business Information; a location without its own hours uses the calendar hours from General Settings every day. Closures sit on top of those regular hours. Opening hours matter most for online booking: when Respect practitioner availability is off, patients are offered the location's opening hours, so a location that closes at 13:00 on Saturdays should say so there.
Add a closure
Name it
Something staff will recognize on the calendar, such as Christmas 2026. The name is what the calendar shows across each column on those days.
Set First day and Last day
The same date for a single day. The range is inclusive.
Choose whether it applies to all locations
All locations closes every site. Leave it off to close only the location you're viewing.
Save
From that moment online booking offers no times on those days, the calendar shows Closed: Christmas 2026 on every practitioner for them, and staff who book into them are warned first.
Appointments already booked on a closed day
Adding a closure doesn't cancel or move anything already booked on those days; the appointments stay and their reminders still go out. Check the calendar for the closed dates after saving and move or cancel what's there. A staff member can still book into a closed day on purpose: the form says The clinic is closed that day: Christmas 2026 and offers Book anyway, which is right for the odd emergency visit and wrong for everything else.
