The calendar is where the clinic lives all day, so it's worth knowing what every color, shade and badge means before the first busy morning.
- How the calendar is laid out and how to move around it
- What the colors, shading and badges mean
- Where each booking task is covered in detail
What the calendar shows
The calendar is the Appointments page, and for most of the clinic it's where the day happens: booking, checking patients in, moving things around and seeing what's next. It shows one location at a time, with a column for each practitioner you've chosen to see. Each practitioner's working hours and breaks appear as shading, their unavailable blocks as labeled blocks, and a clinic closure as Closed across every column for that day. Appointments sit on top, colored by appointment type.
Choose the location from the list at the top if your clinic has more than one, and check the practitioners you want columns for; Select all brings everyone back. Users whose Location access is their own location only see that location and can't switch.
Day, Week and Now
- Day is the working view: one column per practitioner, the hours your clinic set as visible, and every appointment and block drawn to its length. Booking, dragging and resizing all happen here.
- Week shows seven days side by side for planning ahead. Show Weekends adds Saturday and Sunday; it's off by default because the clinic's business weekends are treated as non-working days.
- Now is a live list of today rather than a grid. It groups today's appointments by what's happening: Overdue (past the start time and nobody has checked them in), No show, Arrived — waiting, In session, Up next, Upcoming, then Scheduled. Reception can run the waiting room from this view without hunting across columns.
The arrows step a day or a week at a time. Selecting an empty time in Day view starts a new appointment at that time; selecting an appointment opens it.
Reading an appointment card
A card shows the time, the patient and the appointment type, and carries a status: Scheduled, Arrived, No Show, Canceled or Completed. An arrived card also shows the arrival time and how long the patient has been waiting; a canceled one keeps its place on the calendar, grayed, with the reason if one was given. A telehealth appointment is marked as such, and a group appointment shows how many of its places are filled, for example 4/6. Once anyone changes a status, every open calendar in the clinic updates within moments.
Updating the status as the day goes on is what keeps the rest of ClinyPal honest: the dashboard, the uninvoiced and note reports, no-show fees and automatic recalls all read from it. See Update an appointment's status.
The today panel
From any page in ClinyPal you can open the today panel for a quick look at the day without leaving a patient's record: today's date, how many appointments there are and how many remain, and the next few with their times. A telehealth appointment in the list has a Join telehealth call button.
