A practitioner leaving is a scheduling problem first: weeks of bookings in their column, each needing a new home and the patient told once. ClinyPal won't deactivate them until you've decided, and writes nothing until you confirm.

What happens

When a practitioner leaves, their future appointments need a home. Deactivating them, or switching off Is this user a practitioner?, opens Before removing as practitioner…, which checks upcoming appointments. If there are none, it says Safe to remove as practitioner and finishes. Otherwise you choose a plan, resolve exceptions, and confirm; changes are written only when you confirm.

Choose a plan

PlanWhat it does
Best available for each appointmentEach appointment goes to a free practitioner at the same location who already offers the type. Series stay with one practitioner where possible.
Move everything to one practitionerPick one person with Reassign to…; dates that practitioner can't take come up as exceptions.
Cancel everything and notify patientsEvery appointment is canceled and each patient gets a cancellation message.
Decide one by oneOpens the full list to set each appointment, series (Whole series to…) or group (Whole group to…) yourself.
The Before removing as practitioner dialog showing the count of upcoming appointments and four plan options, with Continue to exceptions.

Exceptions and confirmation

Continue to exceptions lists anything the plan couldn't place, marked Nobody is free. For each, Change to another practitioner, Cancel it, or Skip, which leaves it unassigned on the calendar to deal with later. Then confirm. Patients get one message listing all of their changed dates, by their usual channel; a patient with no email or mobile they get messages on is listed afterward under Call these patients directly, and appointments canceled with a payment on file are listed so you can refund or credit these from the invoice.

Notes and invoices stay. Deactivating keeps every note, invoice and appointment the practitioner recorded, under their name. Reactivating restores sign-in; appointments already moved stay where they went.
Changes are written only when you confirm. You can leave the flow at any point before confirming and nothing moves. After confirming, each patient gets one message listing all their changed dates, so check the plan once more before that step.
